Drambuie is an exquisite liqueur that combines Scotch whisky with a secret elixir of herbs, spices and heather honey.
Drambuie was created for one of Britain's most charismatic royals, Prince Charles Stuart.
He gave the secret recipe to one of the members of his entourage as a gift for his loyalty after losing his kingdom following the uprising of 1745.
During the following century, Drambuie was enjoyed among the inhabitants of the Isle of Skye in Scotland, whose hospitable and welcoming nature perfectly matched the warmth and elegance of the liquid.
It was patented in 1893, and bottled for sale in 1914.
But its golden age really came in the 60s, becoming the heart of one of the most iconic cocktails, the Rusty Nail.
Since then it has grown unstoppably to become a staple in bars around the world, bringing its inimitable warmth and intensity to a new wave of reinvented whisky cocktails.
