Manuel Quintano Los Herreros is a red wine from Bodegas Manuel Quintano, made exclusively with 100% Garnacha, a variety that reflects the very essence of the historic vineyards of Labastida, in the prestigious Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin.

The 2021 vintage began with good rainfall, but at the end of winter there was a prolonged period of drought that extended until September.

Overall, it has been a dry year, which has favored the health of the vineyard, reducing the need for phytosanitary treatments thanks to the excellent condition of the grapes.

The harvest was similar to that of 2020, and even slightly higher in some plots thanks to the rains at the end of September.

These weather conditions delayed the harvest by 10 days compared to 2020, resulting in wines with greater maturity, lower acidity and a more powerful structure.

Although less aromatic due to the heat, these wines stand out for their great color and body.

Los Herreros comes from a 75-year-old Garnacha vineyard, located at an altitude of 510 meters on a calcareous sand soil, which brings elegance and minerality to the wine.

The production process begins with the destemming of 80-85% of the harvest, allowing some of the bunches to ferment whole.

Fermentation takes place in small open tanks, with pump-overs and manual foot treading, removing the stems by hand as they are destemmed, an artisanal technique that provides a purer expression of Garnacha.

The wine ages for 14 months in used 500-liter French oak barrels, where it acquires complexity and structure without losing its freshness and fruity character.
