Masahiro gin is the first to come out of the tropical Japanese island of Okinawa.
The distillery's expertise lies in Awamori, the traditional spirit of Okinawa, making the gin a new endeavor for the distillery.
The botanicals include roselle hibiscus flowers, guava leaves and Balinese long pepper, but the most interesting addition is goya, the bitter green melon from Okinawa.
Okinawa Island is an archipelago characterized not only by its subtropical climate, but also by having its own history, the result of its past as an independent kingdom.
Gin is also distilled in pot stills, unlike the more traditional column stills.
With an ABV of 47%, it is full of floral flavors, tropical fruits and green notes of bitter melon.
