The process of making Ron Centenario Añejo Especial begins with the selection of sugar cane, which in Costa Rica finds its perfect growing area thanks to the climate, the volcanic soils and the great natural wealth of the environment.
The sugarcane harvest for Ron Centenario takes place during the summer months. The stalks are removed and taken to the mill to extract the sugarcane juice. Through fermentation by special yeasts, the sugar is converted into alcohol, reaching up to 80% ABV. This is diluted by adding distilled water, and then aged in oak barrels, which gives the rum its distinctive character.
