This wine originates in Paraje Altamira, in the heart of the Uco Valley (Argentina), an area renowned for its diverse soils, altitude, and the unique expression of its wines. 2km is much more than a name: it represents the length of the estate and the starting point of the Finca Beth project.
From its inception, this line of wines seeks to accurately interpret each micro-sector of the vineyard, focusing on the plots with the highest calcium carbonate content, where the plants exhibit less vigor and productivity, but a greater concentration in their fruit.
It is in these special areas that this blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Cabernet Franc is born.
Both varieties are harvested manually on the same day, with a rigorous selection of bunches.
Winemaking begins with the complete destemming of the Malbec, reserving 30% of the stems which are layered during maceration.
Then the destemmed Cabernet Franc is added, placing it directly on top of the Malbec.
The co-fermentation process enhances the harmony between both varieties.
During the pre-fermentation maceration, closed pump-overs are performed to gently extract the aromatic compounds and tannins.
During fermentation, gentle pump-overs and punch-downs are continued, prolonging contact with the solids for between 30 and 40 days.
The aging process takes place over 12 months in 500-liter French oak barrels, followed by a long bottle maturation before being released to the market.
The result is a highly complex red wine, with aromas of ripe fruit, fresh herbs, floral notes and a spicy background.
On the palate it is structured, elegant and with a persistent finish.
The combination of Malbec and Cabernet Franc makes it a versatile wine, ideal for pairing with red meats, stews or aged cheeses.
