Tarquin's Cornish Dry Gin This modern-style London Dry Gin is produced on the Cornish coast.
It is distilled with 12 botanicals that have been hand-picked after a rigorous selection process.
The entire process is artisanal, following tradition without neglecting innovation.
Wonderful final result.
Production: To produce this gin, small batches of pure water and 11 botanicals, carefully selected and hand-picked in various locations around the world, are distilled in three 250-liter copper stills that continue to be cooked directly over an open flame and are sealed at the joints with bread dough, and one state-of-the-art 500-liter still.
The violets are added at the end of the process.
The botanicals are left to macerate overnight in a neutral wheat-based grain spirit.
Before lighting the stills in the morning, the remaining violets are added to complete the recipe.
As the stills heat up, Tarquin constantly monitors the process, sniffing and tasting the distilled spirit that comes out of the still at different temperatures.
Only the purest 'heart of distillation' is taken (achieved when the still has reached a temperature of 78°C), and the 'heads' and 'tails' cuts (the first and last part of the distillation) that do not have the most selective texture and flavor are left aside.
After distillation, this "hearts cut" (around 76% pure gin by volume) is cut with demineralized Cornish spring water to reduce it to the desired 42% by volume.
Nothing else is added, as is typical of the true London Dry Gin style.
Each bottle is filled and labeled by hand, dipped in a slow cooker filled with paraffin wax, stamped with the Puffin logo, given batch tasting notes, and also individually hand-signed.
The botanicals that make up this gin are: juniper from Italy, coriander seed from Bulgaria, licorice root from Uzbekistan, angelica root from Poland, orris root from Morocco, green cardamom from Guatemala, cinnamon from Madagascar, bitter almonds from Morocco, violets from Devon, and fresh orange peel, lemon, and seasonal grapefruit.
Consumption: This gin is recommended to be consumed neat, in cocktails or mixed drinks.
