COINTREAU LIQUEUR Cointreau liqueur is the result of a mixture of sweet and bitter oranges distilled using traditional methods, water, sugar and alcohol.
It was created in 1875 by Edouard Cointreau in Angers, France.
Made using centuries-old methods to obtain the most intense aromas from orange peels.
These are sun-dried, macerated, and distilled in copper stills, obtaining an essential oil that gives the liquor its intense and natural aroma, between sweet and bitter.
This oil is mixed with alcohol, water, sugar, and spices.
It was usually taken after a meal or as a digestive drink.
Later it became the most used triple sec to make cocktails such as the Margarita, Cosmopolitan or Sidecar among others.
It can also be enjoyed on its own or with ice.
