MachoMan Monastrell MMM Red Wine

Macho Man Monastrell MMM red wine belongs to the Casa Rojo winery and is included in the IGP Tierra de Murcia.

It comes from 13 plots of Monastrell vineyards in the Paraje de La Raja (where the winery is located) between the El Carche and La Pila mountain ranges.

The vineyards are between 20 and 70 years old.

The harvest is done manually, respecting the optimal stages of ripening, in 15 kg boxes.

This wine is made with 100% Monastrell grapes.

Within the PGI Tierra de Murcia, in the southern area, the La Raja area is located between the Sierra de El Carche and the Sierra de La Pila.

In this area, the Casa Rojo winery has selected the 13 plots from which the Monastrell grapes originate.

The poor, shallow, and calcareous soils, along with the extremely dry climate of the area, will cause the plant to suffer considerable stress and have very little vigor, resulting in a quality fruit.

Macho Man Monastrell MMM Red Wine is the result of a very low production vintage, but very concentrated and of very high quality.

The 2016 production is limited to 103,000 bottles.

The harvest takes place during the second and third week of September, in optimal stages of ripeness and manually during the early hours of the day so that the grapes enter the winery at a temperature of about 15ºC.

Grapes enter the winery after passing through a double sorting table.

Fermentation is carried out in inverted truncated conical tanks of 7,000 liters (the thinner cap and this inverted shape allow for gentler and less aggressive pressing) at a controlled temperature of 26º C.

Aged in first-year French oak barrels.

Barrels of 240 and 450 liters from four cooperages (Seguin Moreau, ANA, Saint Martin and Sauri).

Later it also passes through Roman clay amphorae of 800 liters.

It has an alcohol content of 14%.

It also has a total acidity of 5.15 g/l, a pH of 3.69 g/l and 3.2 g/L of residual sugar.
