Bodegas Labastida produces this Manuel Quintano Cepas Viejas Red Wine, a red wine from the Rioja DO made with 100% Garnacha grapes.
The grapes chosen to make this red wine are 100% Garnacha.
These grapes are hand-picked by our winegrowers in vineyards over 50 years old, arranged in a goblet style and located between 550 and 600 meters above sea level.
LA UVAEl Crucero is located in Briñas, next to the Ebro, at an altitude of 450 meters.
It has 0.22 ha and a loamy, very poor soil.
El Portillo is in Salinillas de Buradón (Labastida).
It is a south-facing slope with a 30% incline, with poor silty-loam soil located at an altitude of 600 meters.
Los Herreros is located in Labastida, 550 meters above sea level.
It has 0.48 ha of sandy loam soil.
These are three of our best Garnacha vineyard plots.
THE HARVEST The 2017 harvest was marked by the most severe frost ever recorded in the area.
This phenomenon resulted in a very small production, which, combined with a rather warm and dry climate, marked a very early vintage.
Hand-harvested and processed separately from each plot.
Aged, also separately for 10 months in used French oak barrels.
