Cutty Sark Blended Whisky belongs to the Edrington group, which also owns such prestigious spirits as The Macallan, Brugal, The Famous Grouse, Highland Park.
The name comes from one of the last clipper-type sailing ships to be built in 1869.
It was the fastest ship of its time, which suggested that this was a whisky without the heaviness of that era, which was also reflected in the color that showed that no caramel was added.
This whisky is aged in American oak barrels, which give the product more subtle and complex flavors.
Once matured, the malts are blended with each other and with the Grain whisky, or grain whiskies.
